OUR HISTORY

From generation to generation

Cantine Padre Pio is a company which deals with the harvest of grapes, the processing of must and the production of wines. It came to light for the purpose of enhancing and preserving the traditions, culture and tastes of the Apulian territory. The company arises in the town of Torremaggiore, an area rich in history, which shows great interest in wine-producing business.
Its name derives from the founders’ personal vocation towards St. Pio of Pietrelcina, who spent most of his years in the near town of San Giovanni Rotondo.

A FAMILY OF EMILIAN WINEGROWERS AND WINEMAKERS, WHO MOVED TO TORREMAGGIORE IN THE 30s, WHEN GAETANO, THE CURRENT OWNER’S GREAT-GRANDFATHER, BECAME THE COMPANY DIRECTOR.

Cantine Padre Pio is a historical company based in Torremaggiore, dealing with the harvest and processing of the grapes grown in the Alto Tavoliere delle Puglie area.  The Sebastiani family, who manages the company, has an interesting background in the wine market and, for five generations, it has been responsible for meeting the supply needs of the products from this sector.

Recently, the company  has become an agricultural cooperative again in order to find, together with its farmer members, the right compromise between quantity and quality of products, with the purpose of promoting the wines produced in this area which has a great winegrowing potential.

Thanks to the soil richness, the gentle Apulian climate and the company farmer members’ will, Cantine Padre Pio is able to process thirty thousand quintals of grapes every year, obtaining excellent quality wine at the right price.
